Dear Loved Ones,

It is with great joy that we send out this update to you. We are excited about what the Lord has been doing in our lives and ministry. His Spirit has been going ahead of us, preparing hearts for His word, and He has done a work.

A Word of Exhortation: We want to encourage your love and labor for the Lord Jesus Christ. Oft times, in our own “bubble of ministry,” we can only see a little of what God is doing, but Sara and I have the privilege of seeing several different fires burning. Know confidently that God is moving in churches across the nation. He still desires souls to be saved, discipled, and sent forth. And He is still accomplishing His desires by His Word and by His Spirit. Continue praying, preaching, and believing. Be faithful as He which called us is faithful.

Reasons to Rejoice: Since our last update in May, we have been able to minister in ten different ministries in nine different states. What a joy it was to co-labor with pastors, camp directors, and other dedicated servants of Christ. Some planted, some watered, and God gave the increase with over 75 saved in those meetings! Thank you for your prayers.

We are also rejoicing over God’s provision to us in the area of health. He has been faithful to provide several medical doors to walk through. We trust His timing and direction. We are thankful for His care of the physical needs, which always serves to remind us of His care of the spiritual needs.

We also rejoice in the Lord’s ministering to us in our personal walks with Him. Both of us have seen His Spirit intensifying our desires for a selfless service and a more intimate relationship with Christ. We attribute this to the Spirit’s response to your prayers. We earnestly covet your continued intercession for us.

Prayer Requests: We ask you to pray for us specifically for two things. First, I am reminded of the words of Whitefield, who said, “Lord, I am weary in thy work, but not weary of thy work.” It has been a moving, busy schedule, but well worth it. We agree with Paul in that we would very gladly spend and be spent for the Lord and souls, but please pray for strength and perseverance.

Secondly, we are in a desperate need of the Lord’s power in our lives to minister. We want others to see Christ in us, and we want to minister the Word of God in persuasive, effective authority. Please intercede for this as well.

We hope to see you soon. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!

Dear Prayer-Partners,

First, let me say how sorry we are for the amount of time between our last letter and this one. We do want to keep you updated on the Lord’s work. Really we are the ones that suffer from it, knowing that your prayers for us are not as specific without regular updates. We appreciate your faithfulness to us in our “absence.”

God’s Stirring: “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”( Jn. 15:5) How the Holy Spirit has stirred my heart through these words! God, Who cannot lie, promised that He would bring forth much fruit as we abide in Him and He in us! This is the ministry God has called us to—preaching for a revival of the abiding truths that produce much fruit.

In churches, we are finding somewhat of a separation occurring—a dividing line. Unfortunately, many have given up, saying that the best we can do in this age is just hold on and survive until Christ comes. But, praise God, there are others who are believing that God has not changed. His Holy Spirit is still with us, and He still desires to do great miracles in and through us to reach the multitudes. We are not to simply survive, but overcome! God will respond in might to the individuals and churches that believe His Word and expect His Works.

Praises: In our last letter we asked prayer for Sara’s brother, Levi, as he traveled with us. Thank you especially for praying in this area—God worked amazingly. We saw real growth and change in his life (and in ours). God also revealed His will for college training as Levi surrendered to go to West Coast Baptist College. Levi left us in early March to go to Honduras on a missions trip. Please pray that God uses this young man mightily in the ministry.

Also, we asked for prayer for Rosetta Stone Spanish. God answered that request and now we are diligently working on Levels 1 & 2. Pray God would give us speed in learning that we may preach Christ.

Prayer Requests: Please continue to pray for Alton Hinote. I had another chance to witness to him in March. In our last conversation he said that he doesn’t “believe enough.” He is not resting fully in Christ’s work. What he considers faith is really a self-effort. Pray, as the hymn says, for his faith to find a resting place.

God has opened up some doors to meet some health needs in both of our lives. Pray for God’s specific leadership and care.

God has recently worked deeply in my life through the booklet “The 3-fold Secret of the Holy Spirit” by McConkey. I highly recommend it. Please pray for God’s power in my life which comes through faith. Pray specifically that I would have a steady “looking unto Jesus.”

Thank you a thousand times for your prayers on our behalf. May God continue to give you grace on your knees.

Dear Saints in Christ,

How God has showered blessings upon us over the last two months! Our hearts are filled with praise to the God Who supplies for our every need. When God provides for the physical, it reminds me that He is faithfully providing for the spiritual. We can’t thank you enough for your part in His provision through prayer.

By the end of a busy summer, it seemed that everything had fallen apart. We had several items in dire need of attention. 1. Most of our dishes broke on a bad bump on the road. We shared the same bowl for a while. 2. Our trailer stairs were broken, making Sara and me have to jump out of the trailer. 3. Our hot water heater was leaking profusely. For three weeks straight we were forced to swap out sopping wet towels twice a day. 4. We were in need of a new mattress. Ours had “given up the ghost” and was causing back pain. 5. A large stress crack had formed on the outside of our trailer wall. Water damage had begun. 6. The trailer was in desperate need of brakes ($1000 in parts alone). 7. The fuel gauge in the truck was broken, which had caused us to run out of fuel one day… that was fun. 8. Our taxes still were not filed because we needed the time to go through them and get professional advice (don’t worry; we had filed for an extension). 9. While at a family camp in Charlotte, MI, I got poison ivy and was due to speak later that week at another meeting. (Note: If you are extremely allergic to poison ivy, do not place games with teens in the woods at midnight.) 10. Sara had been having some health concerns. We needed to see a doctor who would be able to accommodate our traveling. Whew!

These all seemed to weigh down at the same, but the Lord was faithful to meet every need in the space of about 6 weeks! 1. A church in West Bend, WI bought us a beautiful dish set. 2. A gentleman in Laingsburg, MI welded our stairs back together. 3. Sara’s dad was able to weld our hot water heater, saving us $450. 4. We found a Sleep Number 7000 mattress that was under a year old and retailed at $3000. We bought it for $125 on Craigslist. 5. Another man in Laingsburg fixed our stress crack in a couple of hours. 6. When they heard of my brake situation, the church in Laingsburg raised their love offering from $450 to $1000, allowing us to purchase the parts. The gentleman that fixed the stress crack, let us borrow their car to drive to Iowa for a meeting, while he did the labor to fix the brakes. 7. Another gentleman at Laingsburg fixed my fuel sending unit, saving me $430 for a new one. 8. A former tax specialist in Lansing, MI walked me through our taxes. We still had to “render to Caesar” quite a bit, but at least it was with a clear conscience. 9. One of the youth pastor’s family doctor gave me a cortisone shot that cleared up most of the poison ivy within a day. He didn’t charge me anything! An emergency room visit would have cost $300. 10. We met a doctor, again at the church in Laingsburg, who helped with some of the problems Sara was having. She offered to be Sara’s doctor long-distance and to accommodate us wherever we are. What a huge blessing!

Isn’t God’s provision amazing?! We were thrilled to see the care of our Father! On top of all this, several were saved and many Christians awakened at the various meetings. We wish we could share every detail of their decisions, but space has run out. Please don’t misunderstand the emphasis of this report. The souls changed are more important than the provision in our lives, but I wanted to encourage you with “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

“TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HATH DONE!”
